How to use the Library: Laptop Lockers

Our professional team of staff offer a wide range of services to all QMU students, staff and visitors. From help with joining and borrowing; enquiry service, interlibrary loans and photocopying as well as subject support from Liaison Librarians.

QMU provides a free laptop loan service for students and secure storage lockers for charging your own devices.

Borrowing a laptop

You can borrow a laptop from the LapSafe cabinets in the LRC for a period of up to four hours. You will need your student card to access them.

The system is self-service, so you can borrow a laptop at any time of the day.

The loans are not renewable, and the laptop must be returned within the allotted four-hour time slot. Late returns of laptops may result in borrowing restrictions being placed on your account.

If you want to use a laptop for longer, return the laptop you're using to the cabinet for charging. Once returned, you can request another laptop. Please note there may be a 5-minute delay between requests while the system updates.

Charging lockers

There are charging bays available for you to securely store and charge your own devices. This is useful for when you want to charge your phone or laptop during breaks, and is a place to securely store any devices you might not want or be able to bring into class.

Please note that we are not able to provide every kind of charger available, so ask you to bring your own charger to plug in to the standard UK plug socket inside each locker.

For more information about how to use the laptop lockers, see the QMU Library website.

Please see the LRC Regulations for terms and conditions.
