PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SCONUL ACCESS SCHEME IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO COVID-19.
Students and Staff from other UK and some R.O.I universities can apply to join the LRC if they are a member of the SCONUL Access Scheme.
Once their home university has approved their membership they should apply to be an External Borrower using the External Borrower Form (found below) and provide us with a copy of their SCONUL membership confirmation email.
Bring this and your student/staff card to the LRC and we will make a borrower card for you.
Please note: Applications take several days to process and you will not be able to borrow immediately. Full-time undergraduates are only entitled to access for reference purposes and are not required to apply.
Please attach your SCONUL confirmation email to this form. You will need to show your student/staff card on collection of your card if you post this form to us.
You can borrow 6 items from the
7 Day Loan or 21 Day Loan category
Some of our resources are restricted to current matriculated students and staff.
Therefore, external membership does not allow:
External borrowers can access the library only during staffed hours. Please see here for times.
Help with Finding Materials
General help finding materials is available at the Library Helpdesk. However, if you require extra assistance, please phone in advance for advice.
Students from other Universities can connect to our Eduroam Wireless Network. Other visitors can use our Guest Wireless Network.
Photocopying facilities are available. Photocopying of some library materials is permitted under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, if the copied material is for private study or research. Please read the notices beside the photocopy machines.
All library users must abide by the Library Regulations. Copies are available in the Library or online
If not required by other readers, most 21 Day and 7 Day loans can be renewed for a further period.
Items can be renewed in these ways:
21 day loans - 20p per item per day
7 day loans - 50p per item per day
Failure to return or renew overdue loans will result in the borrower being invoiced for the cost of replacement. There is currently a minimum charge of £20.00 per item plus a billing fee. The borrower will still be liable for the billing fee if the item is returned. Billing fees are detailed below.
21 day loan - billed when 35 days overdue - £8 + replacement cost
7 day loan - billed when 31 days overdue - £12 + replacement cost
Please note that membership may be withdrawn if the user is not in good standing, i.e. non-payment of fines.
Funds can be added to your external borrower card or a visitor card and fines can be paid for at the LRC Helpdesk. Alternatively, you can pay at our Finance Office - Please then bring your receipt to the LRC Helpdesk.
