The Learning Resource Centre is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week .
During semester time the LRC will be staffed from 9am to 9pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 7pm on Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Outwith these times QMU students and staff only will be able to carry on using the LRC for study and self-service. However, to access the University building you will be required to swipe in with your Smartcard.
If the Fire Alarm sounds whilst you are in the LRC, go to the nearest fire exit. You must then go to our closest Assembly Point and wait for further instructions. Do NOT remain in the building.
For your safety there will be a few restrictions on where you can go in the LRC during unstaffed hours. There will be full access to the open area and 80+ terminals in front of the LRC Service Desk. Group study rooms will also be open . The Post Graduate Room (1168) and Quiet Rooms (1093-1096) are also open.
All other rooms will not be accessible. You may visit the east end of the LRC to collect books but you must bring them back to the LRC Service Desk area to read them.
Any items that require to be issued by staff will not be able to be borrowed during unstaffed hours – e.g. DVDs items, items on hold or inter-library loans. All queries should be directed to LRChelp@qmu.ac.uk , where they will be answered as soon as possible during the next working day.
If you have any problems relating to access during the non-staffed hours, or if the alarm sounds as you enter/exit the LRC, please see the Security staff at main reception.
Please remember that off-campus access to all electronic resources is available through the Remote Desktop service .
