Teaching Resources and Support: Video resources

This guide provides information about where to find teaching materials, through QMU Library subscriptions and open licensing.

QMU subscribes to various video resources that can be used for teaching.

Kanopy

Kanopy in Canvas

Instructors can create video playlists for assignments and supplemental material. Learn more about creating clips and playlists.

At the moment the way to embed videos into Kanopy is to use the embed code available for individual videos or clips. The embed code is available under the ‘share’ option for individual films or within the playlists feature. You then add it to Canvas within a new page, using the html editor.

Kanopy in Talis Resource Lists

You can also add links to full films on Kanopy in Talis resource lists using the usual bookmark extension (or manually for clips), as you would other websites

Showing a film in class

If you're a student or faculty member, you can use any Kanopy film in your class. Films with public performance rights (PPR) can be used for extracurricular events, like film clubs or social events. See here for more information

Further information

Please see the Kanopy help pages or contact your subject librarian for support with using Kanopy

The Library runs workshops on using Kanopy including how to embed videos in Canvas, or your subject librarian can give one to one support.

Note: all students are able to view Kanopy content, including overseas and partnerships.

Box of Broadcasts

Note: Box of Broadcasts is only available to users in the UK. Overseas students cannot access Box of Broadcasts due to licensing restrictions within the terms and conditions.
