Submitting your item to eResearch

Submit a new item to this collection hyperlink
You’ll then see the form to fill out to start describing your item. Fill in as much information as possible, but don’t worry too much about this as repository staff will check your submission before it’s deposited.

  5. When you have filled out this information, click ‘Next’:
    Save and Next buttons
You’ll be taken to a page to provide information for REF.

Please note that providing a date of acceptance is mandatory for items that are to be submitted for REF. This is the date your item was firmly accepted for publication, following any changes made after peer review. You will find this date on your acceptance email.

  6. Click ‘Next’ to be taken to the page to deposit your manuscript. A PDF version is preferred, but repository staff will convert a document in any other file format (e.g. Word document). In ‘File Description’ please specify which version of your manuscript you are submitting:
File description box - please type in either Accepted Version or Published Version

  7. The next screen you see will be ‘Review Submission’. Make sure you click ‘Complete Submission’ to submit your output for repository staff to process and deposit. You will receive an automated email to confirm your submission, and another when your submission has been accepted (or rejected). This might go to your junk mail, so check there if you don’t receive it.

Version to deposit

Most publishers will not let you deposit the final published version in a repository so before depositing, please ensure the version you are depositing is the accepted manuscript:

Accepted manuscript: Final version of the manuscript after formal peer-review but before being type-set by the publisher. It contains all revisions made during the peer-review process. (Open Access Button's Version Explainer)

If your item is to be published Gold Open Access - i.e. freely available on the publishers site, indefinitely, with a licence that permits sharing (usually a Creative Commons License), you can replace your accepted manuscript version with the final published version upon publication.
