Most publishers will not let you deposit the final published version in a repository so before depositing, please ensure the version you are depositing is the accepted manuscript:
Accepted manuscript: Final version of the manuscript after formal peer-review but before being type-set by the publisher. It contains all revisions made during the peer-review process. (Open Access Button's Version Explainer)
If your item is to be published Gold Open Access - i.e. freely available on the publishers site, indefinitely, with a licence that permits sharing (usually a Creative Commons License), you can replace your accepted manuscript version with the final published version upon publication.
For a summary of publishers' open access archiving conditions for individual journals, you can use Jisc's Sherpa Romeo service. Repository staff will double check publisher permissions and embargo periods for all submitted items to ensure your item is deposited accordingly.
If you find a record for one of your items that has no file associated with it, please email your accepted manuscript to EResearch@qmu.ac.uk and we will attach the file.
When you notify us about your new research publications, please send your accepted manuscript to make it accessible to those who need it.
If you are having problems that aren't covered by this guide, or have any questions or feedback, please get in touch at EResearch@qmu.ac.uk.
