Welcome to the Learning Resource Centre!
Our LRC is designed to support you academically, with up to date technology, different styles of learning spaces and academic assistance available.
As a QMU Student, you will have access to over 455 thin-client terminals and audio-visual facilities as well as our highly trained, friendly and approachable staff to help you make the most of the resources we have. Each subject taught at QMU also has a Liaison Librarian. Your Liaison Librarian has created a subject guide to help you navigate through the books, journal and online resources that you will use throughout your degree.
This guide provides important information about how to access our range of resources in order to help you get the most from the Learning Resource Centre while you are studying with us. They provide key 'getting started ' information and we hope that you will find the sections useful as a general reference tool.
Please remember that the staff at the Service Desk are there to help you with any enquiry, so check our opening times on the right hand side of this page to see when we are available.
Your Learning Resource Centre is open from 8am-9pm, including holidays! Books can be borrowed and returned through our self service machines during this time.
There are different types of study spaces in the LRC to suit how you like to study. Some students prefer silence,
some like a bit of background noise. We also have group study rooms and individual study carrels. However please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions our individual study carrels are not currently available to use.
When you join QMU, you are issued with a matriculation card aka Smartcard, student card or matric card. You
should have it with you when entering the LRC as you will need it to borrow books and use the MFDs.
The LRC is home to the Liaison Librarians, the Effective Learning Service and the Help Desk. There will be
someone within the LRC who can answer your query or assist you in some way, just ask us!
