The LRC is designed to help you make the most of your learning at QMU, with up to date technology, different styles of learning spaces and academic support.
As a QMU Student, you have access to thin-client terminals (computers) and audio-visual facilities as well as our highly trained, friendly and approachable staff to help you make the most of online and print resources.
This guide provides important information about how to access our range of resources in order to help you get the most from the Learning Resource Centre while you are studying with us. They provide key 'getting started ' information and we hope that you will find the sections useful as a general reference tool.
Please remember that the staff at the Helpdesk are there to help you with any enquiry. Staffed hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday (all year round) and 11am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday (term time only).
Each subject taught at QMU also has a Liaison Librarian. Your Liaison Librarian has created a subject guide to help you navigate through the books, journal and online resources that you will use throughout your degree.
Your Learning Resource Centre is open 24/7, including holidays! Books can be borrowed and returned through our self service machines during this time.
There are different types of study spaces in the LRC to suit how you like to study. We have group study rooms, a collaborative study room, individual study carrels as well as our open access study area.
When you join QMU, you are issued with a matriculation card aka Smartcard, student card or matric card. You should have it with you when entering the LRC because you will need it to borrow books and use the printers/photocopiers.
The LRC is home to the Liaison Librarians, the Effective Learning Service and the Helpdesk. There will be someone within the LRC who can answer your query or assist you in some way, just ask us!
