QMU Distance Learners and those on UK-based collaborative courses are entitled to use this service.
All postal loans will be sent out at the discretion of the Learning Resource Centre and are available to Distance Learning students only. We regret that we cannot post books abroad. Our library books can be posted to UK, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British Forces addresses.
The Learning Resource Centre will meet the cost of outward postage while students are liable to pay the return postage. Postal items can also be returned in person to the LRC. They should be returned by the due date and not posted on the due date. Books posted to you are your responsibility until they have arrived back in the LRC and therefore it is advisable to obtain proof of postage.
Only standard loan 3 week loan items are available for postal loans. We will not send out 7 day loans, reference items, print journals, audio visual material or equipment. Where the title is available as an eBook as well as in print, we will direct you to the eBook and not send out the print book. The loan period for postal loans will be the standard 21 day loan period but these can be renewed by telephone or via the My Library Account link in the library catalogue.
Please apply for postal loans by completing the online form. The form must be completed correctly for us to process the request and essential fields are indicated by an asterisk *. Please ensure you include your student ID (your matriculation number) as well as your correct UK postal address. Each item request must be submitted on a separate form.
The Library offers a photocopy service for Distance Learning students covering print material which is held by the Library. For more information about accessing materials not held at QMU please see the sections Using other Libraries and Interlibrary Loan Service for Distance Learners.
We can provide you with one article from a print journal issue or one chapter of a print book provided that neither constitutes more than 5% of the whole item. We can also direct you to our online resources for electronic versions of material.
Each photocopy, journal article or book chapter, costs £3.00. This is to cover admin, photocopying and postal charges.
