Welcome to the Learning Resource Centre. The facility available to you is designed with the latest developments in mind for both learning spaces and technology. As a newly matriculated student, you will have access to over 600 thin-client terminals and state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities as well as highly trained, professional staff to help you make the most of them.
This guide provides important information about how you access a range of resources designed to help you get the most from the Learning Resource Centre and your time here at QMU. They provide 'getting started' information and we hope that you will find the sections useful as a general reference tool.
During semester we're staffed from 09:00 to 21:00, Monday to Friday and your Learning Resource Centre is open 24/7. Books can be borrowed and returned through our self service machines at any time of night or day.
Each subject taught at Queen Margaret University has a Liaison Librarian. Your Liaison Librarian has created a subject guide to help you navigate through the books, journals and online resources that you will use throughout your degree.
There are different types of study spaces in the Learning Resource Centre to suit how you like to study. Some students like a bit of background noise when they study and others prefer a quieter environment. We have group study rooms too for when you need to work on a group presentation or meet your study group.
When joining Queen Margaret University you are issued with a matriculation card. Some people call it a Smartcard, student card or matric card. Whatever you call yours, you should have it with you when entering the Learning Resource Centre.
