How can researchers make use of social networking sites such as Facebook?  What resources could you share online, and how could it benefit you? Are there better ways for researchers to network with each other than via email?

Sharing presentations

Slideshare enables you to share your own presentations online, or search for other people's presentations. Below is an example of a presentation from a representative of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO). You'll also see the ORCID iD of the researcher after their name on the cover slide. If you're publishing academic work you might want to sign up for an ORCID account.

Sharing references

Most of the reference management tools have a function for sharing references with other people. These are commonly used by researchers for co-authoring literature reviews and other collaborative projects.

Searching social media

Searching for blogs
