Distance Learners: Referencing

As a student at Queen Margaret University you have access to the resources of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), including the extensive, selected collection of online resources.

QMU guide to referencing

There are many different referencing styles available and Queen Margaret University has developed a guide for staff and students, called "Write and Cite: the QMU guide to the British Standard Harvard 2010 system of referencing."

However some subject areas follow a different referencing style - such as our Psychology department who use the APA referencing style - so it is essential you follow the guidelines in your course handbook.

Further information about referencing at QMU, including using RefWorks, our referencing software,  can be found here, alternatively contact your Liaison Librarian, for help.

Write and Cite; Get to grips with the QMU style of referencing:

  • Guides can be purchased from the LRC Service Desk for £2.00.
  • Alternatively access, or download, a PDF copy of the guide here

The APA referencing style from the American Psychological Association can be accessed here.
