Don't panic: In closing

The Psyc/Soc Student's Guide to Fourth Year by Hope Christie and Karl Johnson

In closing... will make it, you can do it, and you'll be glad that you did...

We trust that, upon reaching this particular page, you've read and understood everything we wrote on the pages that came before it. In much the same way that the academic staff trust you to read the journal papers they give you, from beginning to end – rather than just skipping the data tables in the middle and heading straight to the conclusion. If you have, thank you for your time and we hope it was helpful to you.

It might seem like a horror story, but we didn't mean it to come out that way! The message we want you to take away from all this is that, despite whatever may happen during this year, you will make it, you can do it, and you'll be glad that you did. Better than that, looking back on it, you'll be proud of yourself no matter how bad it may look now.

You should be proud of yourself – hell, you should be proud of yourself for making it into fourth year anyway. This is a great opportunity and you'll be surprised at what you can achieve.

You will perhaps also be surprised to learn that we did not strictly follow some of our own advice whilst putting this guide together, and had to edit and format the whole damn thing repeatedly. Despite having just written sage advice on the matter.

So if we (fools) can survive fourth year, so can you.

Now, off you go and do it.
